D. Linkage Mechanisms

Linkage mechanisms are composed by links in which all joints belong to the surface-contact kinematic pairs, e.g., the revolute pairs, prismatic pairs, spherical pairs, or screw pairs, etc. The major functions of linkage mechanisms include the changes of types and directions of motions, function generation, path generation, and rigid-body guidance. So there are many applications of linkage mechanisms in engineering.
